GSOC Operations

  • 2517 calls were received to 1890 600 800.
  • 1949 complaints were received.
  • 1702 complaints were closed.
  • 24 referrals from the Garda Síochána for independent investigation
    under S102(1) of the Garda Síochána Act (2005).
  • 97% compliance rate in requests for documentation from the Garda Síochána.
  • 13 investigations opened in the public interest.
    11 under S102(4) by GSOC.
    2 under S102(5) on request of the Minister for Justice & Equality.

A more detailed breakdown of the statistics will be available in the GSOC annual report which will be published later in the year. There may be some slight statistical variation on these figures due to cases on hand & the dynamic nature of the complaint/allegation caseload.

The total number of allegations investigated is higher than the total number of complaints closed because there may be several allegations in a single complaint. *Decisions on breaches of Discipline Regulations are made by the Garda Commissioner following GSOC investigations.
