Child Protection/ Welfare

The welfare of a child is paramount. If the Garda Ombudsman has any concerns re Child Protection/ Welfare, GSOC has an obligation to share this information with TUSLA, The Child and Family Agency. Insofar as possible, we will discuss this with you first.

The Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission’s Child Safeguarding Statement sets out the service we provide and the principles and the procedures to be observed to ensure, as far as practicable, that a child availing of our service is safe from harm. We have included an assessment of risk of harm to a child while availing of our service and specified the procedures in place to manage any identified risks. The Child Safeguarding Statement applies to all our office locations (Dublin, Cork and Longford).
