Protected Disclosures Annual Report 2022

This is the seventh Protected Disclosures Annual Report from GSOC and it covers the period of 01 January 2022 to 31 December 2022.

Under section 22 of the Protected Disclosures Act, 2014 each public body is required to publish an annual report outlining the number of protected disclosures received in the preceding year and the action taken (if any).

The Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission (GSOC) received 18 protected disclosures from gardaí in 2022. Combined with the 69 matters on hand from 2021, this brought the total number of cases to 87. Of these 87, 34 were closed in 2022, leaving 53 on hand at the end of 2022.

These figures are contained in GSOC’s 2022 Annual Report on Protected Disclosures which has now been published. The figures refer to protected disclosures made by gardaí to the three Ombudsman Commissioners.
