Protected Disclosures Annual Report 2021
Annual Report of the Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission (GSOC) for 2021 in accordance with section 22 of the Protected Disclosures Act 2014
This is the sixth Protected Disclosures Annual Report from GSOC and it covers the period of 01 January 2021 to 31 December 2021.
Under section 22 of the Protected Disclosures Act, 2014 each public body is required to publish an annual report outlining the number of protected disclosures received in the preceding year and the action taken (if any).
The Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission (GSOC) received 20 protected disclosures from gardaí in 2021. Combined with the 75 matters on hand from 2020, this brought the total number of cases to 95. Of these 95, 26 were closed in 2021, leaving 69 on hand at the end of 2021.
These figures are contained in GSOC’s 2021 Annual Report on Protected Disclosures which has now been published. The figures refer to protected disclosures made by gardaí to the three Ombudsman Commissioners.
