GSOC seeks two members for appointment to the Ombudsman Commission
Applications are invited for consideration for nomination by Government for appointment by the President as a member of the Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission (GSOC).
The three members of the Ombudsman Commission are jointly responsible for managing the organisation which has an important role in maintaining public confidence in the Garda Síochána.
GSOC’s main function is to deal with matters involving possible misconduct by members of the Garda Síochána in an efficient, effective and fair manner.
The persons appointed will:
• Have a proven record of achievement at a senior level in the private or public sector, ideally with a knowledge of or an international background in policing, that demonstrates the vision, leadership, governance, oversight and management skills necessary for the role
• Have sound judgement and an ability to guide the resolution of difficult and complex issues in a pressurised environment;
• Be recognised either publicly or within their own professional area as an individual of proven integrity and independence.
